The Children's Room helps grieving children, teens, and families in the community to go on
living fully. They serve families from over 75 cities and towns in Massachusetts. They educate
teachers, counselors, youth workers, and other professionals about how children and teens
grieve.
The Children's Room asked for funding this year to continue its Teen Performance Troupe. All
the students are alumni of the program, and use their performance to share their personal
experience of grief with friends and other school age kids.

Founded in 1992 as Summerbridge Cambridge, Breakthrough Cambridge is the only yearround,
tuition-free academic program in Cambridge, MA. Serving mostly low-income
students, Breakthrough Cambridge is a six-year program comprised of an academically
intensive two-year middle school program and a high school support program that works with
students until college matriculation. Unique to Breakthrough Cambridge is its “students
teaching students” model. Breakthrough Cambridge recruits a team of talented high school
and college students to teach the classes and help to run the summer and school year
programming.
This year Breakthrough Cambridge requested funding for "Tools for Teaching" for improved
teacher training and orientation, and seed money to launch Breakthrough Cambridge Book
Clubs.

Since 1991, the Kids Clothes Club has been providing new, warm winter coats to children in
need. In their first year, they helped thirty children stay warm through the cold New England
winter. Today, thanks to the generosity of donors, they distribute thousands of coats each
year.
SCA money will help the Kids Clothes Club better be able to fill the many previously unmet
requests that they receive for coats.
